BOTOX®, XEOMIN®, Nuceiva™, Dysport® & More

Botox and many other newer similar injectable products are excellent ways to smooth lines and wrinkles on our face, giving a more youthful, less tired look. Together with a healthy lifestyle, and an effective skincare program, these injections form part of a good anti-aging routine. Botox is also often used in combination with fillers like Juvéderm® to optimize results.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox and other similar products (eg XEOMIN®, Nuceiva™, Dysport®) work to relax muscle, preventing them from contracting. Many wrinkles form because of repetitive folding of the skin over many decades (so called “dynamic wrinkles”). When the skin is no longer folded, these lines soften, and sometimes go away entirely!

Does Botox Prevent Lines And Wrinkles From Forming Or Getting Deeper?

Yes! Getting Botox regularly can stop wrinkles in their tracks, so that they don't continue to progress and become more noticeable over time, as they would normally as we age.

How Long Does Botox Last?

The effect on lines and wrinkles lasts 3-4 months, after which the muscles will gradually recover their ability to contract and fold the skin, thus the lines will return unless re-treated with Botox.

What Areas Of The Face Can Be Treated With Botox?

Common areas treated with Botox and other “dynamic wrinkle” injecting products include:

Frown lines

Also called “eleven lines” or glabellar lines

Crows feet

Also called smile lines

Forehead lines

Smokers lines

Which sometimes occur above the lip even in people who don't smoke!

Chin Dimples

Neck bands

These are muscles that enlarge when we grind our teeth or clench our jaws

Is Botox Safe?

Botox has been used in a variety of ways to treat various medical conditions for over 20 years. While it can sometimes have side effects, as can all medications, those side effects are typically extremely mild and quite rare.

Is Botox Expensive?

The short answer is no. As a beauty maintenance procedure, Botox is incredibly affordable and packs a big bang for your buck. Cost often depends on how many different areas of the face you treat. A typical Botox treatment usually costs somewhere between $300-$800.

Who Should You Go To For Botox Injections?

Although Botox is very safe, it is none the less a medication, and should be administered by a trained and experienced medical professional who can assess your health and needs properly, and provide your treatment in the safest way. Ideally, you also want to seek treatment from an injector with aesthetic expertise as well, someone with a good eye, who understands what makes a face look naturally beautiful.

At Carlton Cosmetic Clinic, we have medically qualified and experienced cosmetic injectors at both of our Mississauga and Toronto locations. Giving our clientele the great looks they want, in a natural way, without looking over done.
